Jimi had big success with songs like Hey Joe, Changes, All along the Watchtower and many others, which were covers of other people's songs.

I was about 14 when Rory Gallagher had his first appearance in the German Rockpalast night in 1977 and immediately was fascinated by his style! I loved it! He looked so humble, unstarlike, but he had the guitar do all the singing. And what singing it was! I'll never forget that magic night sitting in front of a monaural TV tube secretly without the parents knowing..haha. I even recorded that on cassette tape using a cheap consumer microphone against the tv speaker only to replay the concert countless times. What great times it were to be alive. R.I.P. Rory Gallagher.

To be honest I didn't hear any 'Sloppy' playing, as there was a bloke rambling on with no audio. What an absolutely pointless post.

Love Zep but many a time hearing live recordings I would wonder just where exactly Page was going with solos. As mentioned, they could be all over the place.

I think this all the time but sometimes i just have to say it. Gary Moore is the greatest guitar player of all time. We will never see another as talented in every genre and singer songwriter too. no autotune, no purchased lyrics, our Gary was the real deal, and taken from us far too soon. RIP Gary, thanks for the memories.

After '75 is when Page was in the throes of a serious heroin addiction. Sadly, this had a noticeable effect on his playing at live gigs. And while that may explain the sloppy performances, it certainly doesn't excuse it, either.

There’s a big difference from playing 3 chord rock and blues , to playing Achilles last stand and you shook me !! Yes he was a little more rough around the edges, but that kind of song and others take a lot of work Plus he had the built in problem of not remembering night to night how to play it the same way . Not sloppy difficulty level .

Seriously??? So why are these so called sloppy players put on amazing performances. It's about the feel of the moment. I've seen all of these players live except Hendrix and their shows are amongst the best live show I've ver seen (I have been to countless concerts).Oddly enough these so called sloppy players definitely have their own individual style that many players try to emulate.

There were so many rips on the first 2 Zeppelin records. How Many More Times lifts from 3 different blues songs. Dazed and Confused was ripped wholesale from a folk artist. Obviously they transformed these songs, their sound was huge etc… but Jimi wasn’t wrong. LZ also didn’t want to credit/pay for what they lifted. Clapton did some of this as well, not as boldly. Stones too. Being white and British in a pre internet age allowed for a Lot. Yes Zeppelin expanded as songwriters but when ranking/esteeming them this is key information.

Really good video and excellent point from Blackmore, I mean Chuck Berry played really early foundation licks but totally his live versions of songs are awesome. My favorite live is Angus Young. studio recording vs live he is sooooo underrated. I hope to see him while he still lives. If they come to the US already lol😎🤘🏾🎸🎵PWR UP ⚡️⚡️⚡️

When I want to hear music played to the millimeter perfectly, I listen to a symphony orchestra. Now, a guitarist who played exactly the same as the album, night after night, show after show, would be called “boring, monotonous, repetitive, tedious” and other nonsense. Rock is an explosion of energy, and without a doubt the intensity of the crowd is something that affects their emotions; a proof that they are humans, not robots. And does anyone think they care about being called “sloppy”?

Achilles last last was amazing, other than you can tell the drugs were affecting his playing albeit tge productionof that concert sucked. Robert mentions how great the song was that night. Member this is 1979. They were insane from 69 to 75 live.
